CVG New Rental Car Facility Project Reaches Milestone

This new facility will open in 2021.

(Erlanger, Ky.) – The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) has reached a new rental car facility project milestone since breaking ground in 2019.

In partnership with Messer Construction Co., the highest beam was placed, topping off the first of the three structures that will ultimately make up the nearly 1.2 million square-foot rental car facility.

This first structure will be the new Customer Service Building, which will be conveniently connected to the Terminal for passengers who wish to make a rental car transaction when it opens in 2021.

The Ready Return and Quick Turn Around are the other two structures currently under construction and will be used to store and service rental cars.

All 11 rental car brands serving CVG will be held in one location, which will eliminate emissions from shuttles transporting passengers back and forth from rental car lots to the Terminal and ease the hassle of CVG travelers.

“This project and investment in our infrastructure will provide a more seamless and efficient rental car experience for millions of CVG travelers each year,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “We look forward to elevating the passenger experience at CVG when the rental car facility opens in 2021.”

“Messer is honored to continue our long-standing relationship with CVG, and specifically to be the Construction Manager for this transformational project along with the design team PGAL, Woolpert, KLH, and THP,” said Greg Herrin, vice president, Messer.

The total cost of this project is $171 million.
