Crouse, Maurer are Valedictorian, Salutatorian of East Central HS Class of 2022

(St. Leon, Ind.) - Sunman-Dearborn Community School Corporation is pleased to announce the East Central High School Class of 2022 Valedictorian and Salutatorian. The valedictorian of a graduating class is the student who has the highest-grade point average. The salutatorian of a graduating class is the student who has the second-highest grade point average.

This year’s Valedictorian is Lillian Crouse. Lillian is a National Merit Finalist, a member of National Honor Society, EcoClub, Spanish Club, and FCCLA. She was an Academic Honors Jacket recipient in the spring of 2021 as well as a member of the academic team her senior year and the soccer team for four years. Lillian is the daughter of Tina and Richard Crouse.

Lillian will attend Purdue University as a Stamps Scholar and member of the Purdue Honors College. Stamps Scholars receive full tuition, room, and board for up to four years.

This year’s Salutatorian is Jordyn Maurer. Jordyn is a member of National Honor Society and Student Ambassadors. She was an Academic Honors Jacket Recipient in the spring of 2021 as well as a member of show choir for four years and softball for four years. Jordyn is the daughter of Teina and Jay Maurer.

Jordyn will be attending Denison University receiving the Academic Merit Scholarship majoring in math, statistics, and analytics and continuing her softball career.

Congratulations to Lillian and Jordyn for their hard work and dedication.

Due to an error in calculating the GPA and class rank, our top students were read in the incorrect order during Commencement Exercises on June 5, 2022. We apologize for the error. Due to the error, the following three students also achieved Distinction as Exemplary Honors Graduates but were not read aloud during the ceremony: Sophie Browndyke, Sydney Hollowell, and Bailey Jones.
