(Dearborn, Co.) - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Beaty Construction, Inc. is scheduled to close State Road 46 over Whitewater River on or after Monday, June 9, to complete a bridge rehabilitation project in Dearborn County.

The closure will take place on the S.R. 46 truss bridge located between U.S. 52 and Barber Road. S.R. 46 is expected to reopen in late November, weather permitting. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows U.S. 52 to I-74 to S.R. 1.

Additional rehabilitation work will take place on S.R. 46 over Whitewater River in spring 2026. INDOT will provide additional information and updates as work progresses.

This work is part of a $10.6 million contract awarded to Beaty Construction in October 2024. Overall contract work is expected to be complete in 2026. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
