(Florence, Ky.) – The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate the suspect in a fatal hit and run accident.

The accident took place on Sunday around 5:27 a.m.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, a male subject, identified as Simon Agular, 38, of Florence, was located lying in the grass adjacent to Dixie Highway.

Agular appeared to have been struck and had obvious severe injuries. His bicycle was also heavily damaged.

A short time later, responding deputies located an abandoned black Ford F-150 that was blocking the southbound lane of Dixie Highway, just a short distance south of the location where Agular was found.

Investigators believe Agular was traveling southbound on Dixie Highway between Beeson Drive and White Pine Circle and was struck from behind by the Ford F-150. The impact forced Agular to be ejected from the bicycle.

He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence where he was pronounced deceased.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit and Criminal Investigations Unit are investigating the collision. Speed does not appear to be an issue; however, the driver was suspected to have been intoxicated at the time of the collision.

A suspect has been identified and detectives are currently attempting to locate the suspect for questioning.

No charges have been filed at this time.
