(Aurora, Ind.) – A local business owner and longtime supporter of South Dearborn Pee Wee Football has been diagnosed with cancer.

Jason Wessell, 45, learned of the diagnosis on March 10.

Since then, he has started chemotherapy and around-the-clock-care.

Wessell has been a staple in the community for over a decade, owning and operating a body shop in Aurora and giving time and effort to South Dearborn Pee Wee Football while raising 11 children.

Though the family’s medical insurance covers some of the cost of chemotherapy sessions, the Wessell’s need assistance in making mortgage payments and other monthly bills while Jason continues his fight with cancer.

A benefit dance will be held on Saturday, May 14 from 7:00 to 11:00 PM at a hall on Park Avenue in Aurora.

The event will feature a silent auction, split the pot and more.

Tickets are $35 a couple or $25 for a single ticket, which includes beer.
