By Travis Thayer Barracks 14U. Photo provided. (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Greater Cincinnati club baseball team proved why they are nationally ranked at a recent tournament in Alabama. The Barracks 14U baseball team won the USSSA Gulf Shores World Series last weekend in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama. In the championship game, the Barracks dominated a team from Texas by a score of 21-0. For the tournament, the Barracks outscored their opponents 76-15, upping their season record to 54-1. The Barracks, ranked 19th nationally, are made up of kids from the Cincinnati area, including four members from southeastern Indiana: Calvin Sherwood, Brenton Caudill, Sam Voegele and Seth Gausman. Other team members include: Kolton Fields, Connor Bonds, Cayman Chambers, P.J. Kaylor, Mason Whiteley, Jordan Tacket and Nick Maddy. The Barracks are coached by Wayne Fields and assistant coaches, Randy Gentry, Rob Dearinger, Chad Kaylor, Brian Whiteley and Clark Sherwood.
