Aurora Redevelopment Commission Taking Proposals for Infill Housing

The RDC owns five lots on 5th and Market streets.

(Aurora, Ind.) – The Aurora Redevelopment Commission is looking for prospective home builders and homeowners looking to build.

A Request for Proposals (RFP) has been issued by the Aurora Redevelopment Commission (RDC) to aid in the selection of building plans to construct single-family residential homes on lots that the RDC owns.

The RDC owns five lots in the city which are being offered at no cost to the builder or owner looking to make the biggest investment.

The lots are located on 5th Street and two on Market Street, featuring views of the Ohio River.

Interested respondents must submit a detailed plan to build a single-family home with the following required terms:

  • Building and Construction Plans
  • Must be single-family, residential home.
  • Exterior finish must fit/complement downtown neighborhood community.
  • Must meet minimum square footage as determined by RDC review committee.
  • Must start construction no later than 180 days from the transfer of property and must be complete with construction and obtain a valid certificate of occupancy no later than 365 days after the transfer of the property.
  • Final constructed home must be substantially the same as rendered and presented in the proposal. Anything more than minor deviations must be approved by the RDC review committee. Any change in square footage must be approved.
  • Must comply with all state and local codes, ordinances, and building standards. The RDC is willing to assist in variance requests to the city development standards if the benefit is justified.

The deadline for proposals is August 5 at 2:00 p.m.

The City of Aurora will hold a Proposal Pre-Response Meeting with Q&A on July 14 at 1:00 p.m.
