(Dillsboro, Ind.) – An Aurora man was seriously injured in an accident involving a passenger vehicle and tractor.

Indiana State Police and Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies responded on U.S. 50 at Texas Gas Road around 10:00 a.m. Monday.

The ISP-Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team indicated that Matthew Bauer, 27, of Aurora, was operating a Massey Ferguson tractor pulling a bush hog on the shoulder of U.S. 50 eastbound. Bauer and another Town of Dillsboro employee were working the area on separate tractors.

A passenger vehicle, driven by Keith D. Lee, 49, of Columbus, Ohio, was also traveling eastbound on U.S. 50 and approaching the tractors when Lee’s vehicle left the right side of the road and struck the rear of Bauer’s tractor.

The impact caused Bauer to be thrown from the tractor. He was airlifted to UC Medical Center with serious injuries.

Lee was uninjured in the crash but was taken into custody for Driving While Suspended and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Toxicology results are pending, and Lee may face additional charges related to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
