(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - There is a lot to look forward to in 2024.

City of Lawrenceburg Mayor Kelly Mollaun joined the Morning Show with Chelsie on Monday to chat about the upcoming year and what it may bring to Lawrenceburg.

Mayor Mollaun will go into more detail about the vision for the city moving forward at his upcoming State of the City Address on Friday, February 16 at the Lawrenceburg Event Center.

Mollaun did give a little preview saying that many popular events will return in 2024, specifically mentioning Music on the River, Taste of Summer, and the Whiskey City Challenge Bike Race.

He event hinted that Lawrenceburg Main Street will soon be announcing the Music on the River lineup, stating "you will not be disappointed."

Projects will also be a big part of Lawrenceburg's 2024.

“The biggest reason I wanted a third term was we have some projects that are on the horizon that I want to see finished,” said Mollaun.

One of those projects is the new Lawrenceburg Riverwalk, which will include two new floating restaurants, a nice area for gatherings, and about 15 or 20 boat slips.

“It will be an iconic change for the riverfront. Something that we probably needed to do for years and its going to come to fruition,” said Mollaun.

Community members should see construction start this year.

Construction is already underway on the rehabilitation of the historic Liberty Theater. The mayor says the theater will be a smaller event space with bar and restaurant that will operate year-round, hosting musicians, comedians, weddings, corporate events and more.

The anticipated opening is August.
