Alleged Scammer Caught In Ohio Co.

Joshua Salyers

Switzerland County Jail

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - He allegedly bilked several storm victims out of money by promising to make home repairs.

Now, 39-year-old Joshua J. Salyers is in jail.

Ohio Attorney General and the Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said a grand jury indicted Salyers for stealing more than $43,000 from at least nine homeowners in Hamilton, Butler, and Stark counties in Ohio; and Campbell County in Kentucky.

“Salyers is alleged to have scammed numerous individuals out of money by agreeing to do home repairs then accepting payment in advance after which it is alleged he did not perform the agreed repairs,” Indiana State Police Sgt. Noel Houze said.

Salyers was tracked down by troopers on Saturday afternoon at Camp Shore Campground in Ohio County and arrested without incident. He’s being held at the Switzerland County Jail pending extradition to Ohio.

Salyers was also charged in Indiana with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Houze said unprescribed Hydrocodone tablets were found in other medications Salyers had in his possession.
