(Boone County, Ky.) – One person was seriously injured, and another sustained a minor injury in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Boone County.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash with extrication on Interstate 75 northbound near mile marker 174.9 around 12:04 a.m.
The initial investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Corbin Adams, 21, of Dry Ridge, was northbound in the left lane when for an unknown reason he stopped his vehicle just over a hillcrest.
At that time, a 2018 Freightliner semi-tractor hauling two trailers, rear-ended Adams’ vehicle. The impact forced both vehicles across all lanes of the interstate.
Adams sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to UC Medical Center by Walton EMS. His passenger, Briannah Pyles, 19, of Burlington, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to UC Medical Center.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
Alcohol and drug impairment are unknown factors at this point, and speed is not believed to be a factor. All parties were wearing seat belts at the time of crash.
No charges have been filed at this time.
Interstate 75 reopened to traffic at approximately 3:29 a.m.
