The deadline to submit an application is Wednesday, July 8.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - The Indiana Historical Bureau is reminding those who are interested in installing and dedicating a new state historical marker in 2021 still have time to apply. Wednesday, July 8 is the deadline to submit a 2020-2021 Indiana state historical marker application.
Visit the Apply for a Marker web page to download the application and Guidelines and Procedures to learn more about the process. Topics submitted should demonstrate statewide and/or national significance.
While many libraries and archives may still be closed to the public, the Indiana Historical Bureau is reminding Hoosiers that the Research Checklist is available to offer suggestions on where to locate primary source material to support the application. Many of these resources and websites are available free of charge on your home computer.
The IHB created a four-part Facebook Live series titled "History is Live" broke down the different parts of the application, eligibility requirements, and offered suggestions how to locate primary source documentation.
Completed applications should be submitted to the Indiana Historical Bureau at Indiana Historical Bureau, c/o Casey Pfeiffer, 140 N. Senate Ave., Room 130 Indianapolis, IN 46204 or emailed to CPfeiffer@library.in.gov.
