Switzerland County, Rising Sun Advance in IHSAA Boys Soccer State Tournament

(Southeast Indiana) - The 2026 IHSAA Boys Soccer State Tournament got underway on Tuesday night. 

In Class 2A, Lawrenceburg hosted two first round matches in Sectional 29. 

Switzerland County was victorious in match one, defeating Franklin County by a score of 4-1. Senior Isaiah Dayadharum led the way with two goals and an assist. Freshman Liam South and senior Jack McClellan also found the back of the net for the Pacers. 

The Pacers (11-3-1) will matchup with Madison (12-3-1) in the semifinals after the Cubs dispatched the Batesville Bulldogs from the state tournament with a 2-0 win. 

Despite their close proximity, Switzerland County and Madison did not play in the regular season. 

The Pacers and Cubs will meet on Thursday at 5:30 PM. Lawrenceburg (8-6-2) will renew their rivalry with South Dearborn (4-12) in the second semifinal at 7:00 PM. The Tigers won the regular season meeting 2-0. 

The Sectional 29 Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday at 7:00 PM. 

In Class A, Rising Sun advanced with a 9-0 win over Jac-Cen-Del. Senior Weston Cumberworth scored four goals and assisted once. Junior Cooper Merica tallied a hat trick and two assists. Sophomores Trey Elliot and Griffin Works each had a goal and an assist for the Shiners. 

Thursday's semifinal matchups at Jac-Cen-Del feature #4 Oldenburg Academy (13-3) vs. Union County (8-7) at 6:00 PM and South Ripley (8-7-1) vs. Rising Sun (8-6-3) at 8:00 PM. 

Oldenburg Academy holds a 3-1 regular season victory over Union County. 

Rising Sun and South Ripley played twice during the regular season. The Shiners won the first matchup 3-0. The second match resulted in a 3-3 draw. 

The Sectional 44 champion will be decided on Saturday starting at 7:00 PM.

In Class 3A, East Central (10-5-1) begins their tournament run tonight at home against Franklin Community (0-14-1). Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
