Switz. Co's Rose, Batesville's Amberger Qualify for Wrestling State Finals

Rose is the first Switzerland County wrestler to make it to state.

(New Castle, Ind.) - It was a tough weekend for the 35 wrestlers from southeastern Indiana that competed at the semi-state. 

Wrestlers from Batesville, East Central, Franklin County, Lawrenceburg, Milan, South Dearborn, and Switzerland County traveled to either New Castle or Evansville to try and punch their ticket to the State Finals. 

Of the 35 wrestlers from the area, two are heading to State. 

Switzerland County junior Gabe Rose placed 4th in the 144 pound weight class at the Evansville Semi-State. He will make a return visit to the Ford Center on Friday, February 16 for the first round of the State Finals - which is being held in Evansville for the first time ever.

Rose is the first Switzerland County wrestler to qualify for the state finals. 

He will be joined at State by Batesville senior Max Amburger, who placed 4th in the 285 pound weight class at the New Castle Semi-State.

Bryce Bruns (Franklin County) defeated by Carlo Gederici (Carmel) by TF-1.5 4:00 (17-0). Bruns went 29-11 this season. 


Matthew Baylor (Milan) advanced to the second round defeating Tyler Huffman (Alexandria Monroe) by Fall (0:54). Baylor was then defeated by Blake Getz (Roncall)) by Fall (2:56). Baylor ends the season with a 44-2 record.


Adam Brewer (Batesville, 27-11) is defeated by Richard Rogers (Franklin Central) in the opening round by Fall (1:07). 

Jaxon Carr (East Central, 29-11) is defeated by RJ Taylor (Perry Meridian) by Fall (2:37).

Cole Freese (Franklin County, 35-8) is defeated by Jack Richardson (Roncalli) by Fall (2:27).

Lucas Richards (Milan, 25-17) is defeated by Jeff McGuire (Greenfield-Central) by Fall (0:40)


Colin Troyer (Franklin County) defeats Quinn Stauffacher (Zionsville) by Fall (1:22). Troyer (39-3) lost his second round matchup to Gunner Butt (New Palestine) by Fall (2:56). 

Laim Hubbartt (South Dearborn (33-17) is defeated by Nick Anderson (Hamilton Heights) by TF-1.5 1:46 (15-0). 


Brogan Rullman (East Central, 27-12) is defeated by Isaac Kuhn (Hamilton Heights) by Fall (0:33). 

Kyle Bolser (Franklin County, 26-12) is defeated by Jack Davis (Chatard) by Fall (1:18). 


Brady Merk (East Central, 24-14) is defeated by Maddox Cade (Southmont) by Fall (3:54)

Landon Walton (South Dearborn, 26-13) is defeated by Landon Vaught (Crawfordsville) by MD (17-6).


Nyden Euson (East Central) defated Jaylyn Pugh (Hamilton Heights) by Decision (6-5). Euson (33-6) would lose his next match to Christian Arberry (Warren Central) by Fall (3:47).

Trevor Bruns (Franklin County, 29-11) is defeated by Dillion Graham (Cathedral) by Fall (1:24).


Brayden Tudor (Lawrenceburg, 25-2) is defeated by Braden Getz (Roncalli) by TF-1.5 5:50 (18-2).

Logan Schott (East Central, 30-10) is defeated by Aaron Durham (Warren Central) by Decision (14-13).


Davis Maher (Batesville, 31-6) is defeated by Silas Foster (Purdue Poly) by Fall (1:20). 

Brody Wingate (East Central, 24-13) is defeated by Jaedyn Jeffries (New Palestine) by SV-1 (9-7). 

Kaleb Wilburn (Milan) defeated Julian Eads (Shelbyville) by Fall (1:08). Wilburn would fall in the next round to Michael Cain (Hamilton Heights) by Fall (3:24).


Damien Dance (Batesville) defeated William Wolford (Tipton) by Fall (3:44). Dance (41-1) lost his next match to James Dozier (Roncalli) by Decision (11-7). 

Jaxsin Prater (East Central, 27-13) is defeated by Jensen Shryock (Anderson) by Fall (0:29).

Kayden McClellan (Milan, 31-16) is defeated by Carter Richardson (Noblesville) by Fall (0:37). 


Drake Rorabacher (Lawrenceburg, 20-12) is defeated by Brenton Russell (Warren Central) by Fall (0:54). 

Cameron Gilb (Milan, 38-6) is defeated by Michael White (Lawrence North) by Fall (2:42). 

Travis Riley (East Central, 18-20) is defeated by Seer Godwise (Perry Meridian) by Fall (3:16).


Brendin Kolter (East Central, 19-7) is defeated by Luke Penola (Zionsville) by Fall (3:15). 

Breck Bohman (Franklin County, 383) is defeated by De Shawn Ternoir (Hamilton Southeastern) by Decision (14-9). 

Zane Richardson (Milan, 40-9) is defeated by Andrew Troy (Chatard) by Fall (4:21).

Brayden Rouse (East Central) defeated Eli Libler (Pendleton Heights) by Fall (1:14). Rouse lost in the second round to Brandon Johnson (Lawrence North) by Decision (11-5). 

Andrew Jones (Batesville, 25-8) is defeated by Jackson Weingart (Cathedral) by Fall (1:28). 


Max Amburger defeated Ty Everson (Frankton) by MD (9-1) and Brayden Flener (Greenfield-Central) by Decision (5-2). Amberger was defeated in the semifinals by evenual 285 pound champ Austin Hastings (Noblesville) by Decision (6-3). Amberger was pinned in the 3rd place match by Perris Green of Warren Central. 


Evansville Semi-State


Ethan Rose (Switzerland County) defeated Karson Bachelder (Castle) by Fall (1:20). Rose (41-6) is defeated in the second round by Joseph Hamilton (Center Grove) by Decision (4-0). 


Dakota Fields (Switzerland County, 31-11) is defeated by Charlie LaRocca (Center Grove) by Fall (1:34).


Peyton Richards (Switzerland County) defeated Peyton Pfettscher (Reitz) by Fall (0:28). Richards (43-1) is defeated by Luke Rioux (Avon) by TF-1.5 5:56 (15-0). 


Gabe Rose (Switzerland County) defeated Kaden Houser (Floyd Central) by Fall (4:21). Rose then defeated Deacon Dressler (Gibson Southern) by MD (11-3). In the semifinals, Rose is defeated by eventual 144 pound champions Reese Courtney (Center Grove) by MD (13-5). Rose was defeated by Branson Weaver (Owen Valley) in the 3rd place match by Decision (9-4).
