South Ripley's Linkel, Switz. Co's Sparks Earn ORVC Weekly Honors

(Versailles, Ind.) – A South Ripley baseball star and Switzerland County softball standout have earned weekly honors from the Ohio River Valley Conference.

The ORVC report for April 12-17 was released on Tuesday.

Brady Linkel is the ORVC Baseball Player of the Week. The South Ripley star nearly tied a school record with 18 strikeouts against Switzerland County. Linkel also did damage at the plate, collecting 4 RBIs and a home run in two games.

Switzerland County’s Lily Sparks was named the ORVC Softball Player of the Week. Sparks threw a no-hitter against Milan and a perfect game versus Shawe. She struck out 40 batters in just 19 innings pitched, and collected 5 hits, 5 RBIs and 4 runs in three games.

In boys golf, Milan’s Josh Clark shot 40 at Hidden Valley in Lawrenceburg earning Golfer of the Week.

Jac-Cen-Del’s Shaylee Volz and Switzerland County’s Raylinn Kappes were named the Girls Track & Field Performers of the Week. Peyton Cavins (Milan) and Owen Bates (Southwestern) were the top performers amongst the boys.
