Rising Sun's Montgomery Smashes Record, Earns ORVC Weekly Honors

Perfect games, no-hitters and record-breaking performances weren't rare occurrences last week.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Student-athletes in the Ohio River Valley Conference put up video game-like numbers this past week.

The ORVC report for April 16-21 was released on Tuesday.

Rising Sun’s Lindsay Montgomery is the ORVC Softball Player of the Week. Montgomery swung a hot bat last week, tallying 11 hits, 11 runs, 17 RBIs, and 5 HRs in 4 games. The Lady Shiners star’s five homers broke a single season record just nine games into the season.

Her teammate Sydney Pitts also put up some ridiculous number last week. Pitts pitched a perfect game against Shawe Memorial on her way to a 4-0 record last week. During those starts, Pitts allowed just one hit, while striking out 31 batters in 18 innings of work.

The ORVC Co-Baseball Players of the Week are Rising Sun’s Braydon Bush and Switzerland County’s Kyle Whitham. Both pitched no-hitters last week.
