Rising Sun Student-Athletes Highlight First ORVC Report Of 2020 Fall Season

Cora Polling, Kendall Montgomery and Peyton Merica were among the weekly award winners.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Rising Sun student-athletes highlight the first Ohio River Valley Conference report of the 2020 fall season.

The ORVC report for August 10-22 was released on Wednesday.

Rising Sun’s Cora Poling is the ORVC Volleyball Player of the Week. The Lady Shiners star recorded 55 kills, 42 digs, 28 blocks and five aces over four matches.

The ORVC Boys Soccer Player of the Week is Kendall Montgomery. He recorded a hat trick and had three assists in a Rising Sun win over Trinity Lutheran.

In girls soccer, Switzerland County’s Raylinn Kappes scored two goals and added two assists in two matches, earning ORVC Player of the Week honors.

Rising Sun’s Peyton Merica and South Ripley’s Lanie Nicholson are the ORVC Runners of the Week.

The ORVC Girls Golfer of the Week is Shawe Memorial’s Kira Wells. She shot 57 at Belterra, 48 at Butler Falls and 41 at Sunrise.
