Rising Sun Cheer Wins First State Championship in School History

They will compete for another state title on November 8.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - It has been an amazing couple of weeks for the Rising Sun High School competitive cheer team.

On October 25, they placed fourth out of 10 teams at the Indiana Association of School Principals ICC preliminary competition, which qualified the team for the state finals on November 8 at New Castle High School.

They also competed at the HCCA Spirit State Championship this past Saturday and were crowned the 1A State Cheer Champions.

This was the first time Rising Sun had competed at this particular state level competition. They did not have any deductions and executed a great routine in winning their first state championship in school history.

Team members are: Kenlee Ryan, Tifani Courter, Lizzy Mear, Macey Halloran, Teagan Lewis, Maddy Phillippe, Bri Sams, J'lynn Rodriguez, Preslie Werner, Seniors Lexi Morris, Charlotte Ohl, Megan Daugherty, Avery Davies, Reese Merica.

Rising Sun is coached by Heather Cook, Skylar Durham, and Ryleigh McAlister.
