Preseason Polls: East Central No. 1 in 4A, Lawrenceburg No. 2 in 3A

South Dearborn also received votes in 3A.

East Central will begin the 2023 season as the top ranked team in Class 4A after winning the state title in 2022. 

INDIANAPOLIS – Preseason rankings are out for the upcoming 2023 high school football season.

The Indiana Football Coaches Association released their Top 10 rankings for all six classifications on Monday night.

Locally, the defending Class 4A State Champion East Central Trojans will start the season as the top ranked team in 4A. The Trojans received nine of 10 first place votes. New Palestine received the other first place vote.

In Class 3A, Lawrenceburg will start the season ranked second with West Lafayette. Indianapolis Chatard, last year’s 3A state champion, will begin the season as the top ranked team in 3A.

South Dearborn was among nine teams to receive votes in 3A. The Knights will be just outside of the Top 10 to start the season.

The Indiana high school football season gets underway Friday, August 18.
