The 30th Annual Fishing Derby took place this past Saturday at Lake in the Pines.

(New Alsace, Ind.) – A handful of young and experienced anglers are celebrating success at the New Alsace Conservation Club Fishing Derby.
The 30th Annual Fishing Derby took place this past Saturday at Lake in the Pines. A total of 196 people participated in the event, including 57 kids age 12 and under.
Colt Bischoff got the day started by registering the first tagged catfish of the event.
The rest of the event included competitions to see who could catch the most catfish, bass and blue gill.
In the 12 and under division, Maddox Hefner caught the most catfish, totaling 5.63 pounds. The top bass fisherman was Kaleb Harper, while Wyatt Bischoff and Julia Gudgeon tied for first in the blue gill competition.
The adult winners were Abby Hooten (1st Catfish, 5.01 lbs.), Derric Blankenship (1st Bass, 2.08 lbs.), and Ben Adams (1st Blue Gill, .70 lbs.).
