Milan Students Give Dylan Thomas Sendoff to State Finals

Thomas is seeded 15th in the 100 Backstroke at the State Finals.

(Milan, Ind.) - Milan Community Schools showed their support for Dylan Thomas as he gets ready to compete at the IHSAA Boys Swimming State Finals tonight. 

Milan Elementary School welcomed Dylan in the hallways as all students ventured out of their classrooms to wish him luck. At the high school, Dylan was sent off with a pep session where all students came to the lobby to surprise him. The MHS band also performed the school song in spirit.

Milan started a new tradition. The chain necklace that Dylan is wearing will be given to every Milan student that makes it to state in the future.

This is the 3rd year that Dylan has made it to state and the fifth time in the last seven years that Milan has been represented at the state swimming meet. Dylan is now competing in a different event this year and this is the highest ranking at state that he has ever had.

The 2023-24 Boys Swimming and Diving State Tournament starts tonight for preliminaries while diving and finals are on Saturday.
