East Central and Lawrenceburg advanced in the IHSAA Football State Tournament, while two local runners competed at the Cross Country State Finals.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29

FOOTBALL

Class 4A Sectional 23 - Semifinals

East Central 52, Mooresville 26 

  • Josh Ringer (EC): 202 rushing yards, 67 receiving yards
  • Ryan Brotherton (EC): 3 total TD
  • Jack Rinear (EC): INT
  • Cole Burton (EC): 6-9, 106 yards, TD

Martinsville 38, South Dearborn 7 - The Knights end their season 7-4. 

*East Central will host Martinsville in the sectional championship on Friday, November 5.

 

Class 3A Sectional 31 - Semifinals 

Brownstown Central 28, Batesville 14 - The Bulldogs finish the season 6-5. 

Lawrenceburg 15, Greensburg 7 

  • Luke Pierce (LB): 30 carries, 188 yards, TD
  • Teagan Bennett (LB): 17 carries, 93 yards, TD
  • Tigers attempted three passes, zero completions

*Lawrenceburg will host Brownstown Central in the sectional championship on Friday, November 5. 

 

Class 1A Sectional 47 - Seminfinals

North Decatur 26, Milan 12 - The Indians finish the season 4-7

*North Decatur will play at Tri in the sectional championship. 

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30

IHSAA Cross Country State Championship 

  • Lanie Nicholson (South Ripley): 100th place, 20:17.6
  • Rachel Campbell (East Central): 136th place, 20:50
