Local Sports Report - February 8, 2022

East Central captured their 3rd straight sectional title, and South Ripley goes back-to-back.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Class 4A Sectional 14 at Bloomington North - Championship

East Central 72, Columbus East 67 - The Lady Trojans capture their 3rd consecutive sectional championship. They will play #2 Franklin in the first round of regional play. 

  • Josie Trabel (EC): 36 points, tied the school record for points in a game.
  • Hope Fox (EC): 22 points, scored her 1,000th career point.
  • Caitlyn Dick (EC): 9 points

 

Class 2A Sectional 45 at Southwestern (Hanover) - Championship

South Ripley 42, Switzerland County 26 - The Lady Raiders win their 2nd-straight sectional title and their 5th in the last six seasons. South Ripley will play North Knox in the first round of regional play. 

 

Class 1A Sectional 60 at Waldron - Championship

Waldron 65, Jac-Cen-Del 57

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Franklin County 57, Ross (Oh.) 45 - The Wildcats extend their winning streak to 15 games (15-2). 

  • Chad Cox (FC): 18 points, becomes Franklin County's all-time leading scorer. 
  • Bridger Bolos, Brant Ertel (FC): 11 points each

Lawrenceburg 48, Madison 41 

Rising Sun 64, Milan 62
