(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Making the All-State team has its perks.
The Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association recently named its 2018 All-State teams for all four classes.
Lawrenceburg Tigers outfielder Eli Helton was selected to the all-state team in Class 3A. The Tigers’ senior star hit .461 this season with six homeruns and 33 RBIs. Although primary used as an outfielder, Helton also appeared eight times as a pitcher. He went 4-1 with a 2.51 ERA.
As part of being selected as an IHSBCA All-State selection, Helton has been invited to participate in the IHSBCA North/South All-Star Series Friday through Sunday, July 20-22 at Four Winds Field – the home of the Midwest League’s South Bend Cubs.
The North and South will compete in a doubleheader on Saturday and a single wood-bat game on Sunday.
