IBCA Hands Out Scholarships To Local Hoop Stars

The local recipients were from East Central, Switzerland County and Milan high schools.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – A handful of southeastern Indiana high school seniors have received a scholarship from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

On Monday, the IBCA announced the recipients of the Marion Crawley, Junior Mannies and Pat Aikman scholarships.

A total of 43 scholarships were awarded, including 37 Crawley Scholarships that highlight achievement in basketball, achievement in academics, participation in extracurricular activities and service to one’s school and community.

Local recipients of the Crawley Scholarship include:

  • Joe Kirchgassner, East Central
  • Nick Martini, East Central
  • Austin South, Switzerland County
  • Lauren Helton, East Central
  • Eric Spears, manager, Milan

Each student will receive $750 towards their post-secondary education.

“I would like to congratulate you for being selected as a recipient,” IBCA executive director Steve Witty wrote in informing winners of various selections.”…”Thanks for your contributions to Indiana high school basketball, and best of luck as you move on to the college of your choice.”
