Harrison Fall Sports Capture Four Conference Titles

The great run this fall includes a first-ever undefeated regular season for the boys soccer team.

(Harrison, Oh.) – It has been a great fall sports season at Harrison High School.

The Wildcats recently captured Southwest Ohio Conference championships in boys cross country, boys and girls soccer, and volleyball.

For the first time ever, Harrison are winners of the SWOC Boys Cross Country Championship. The win snapped a string of four-straight SWOC titles for the Talawanda Braves.

The Wildcats claimed the title by virtue of a tiebreaker by having higher placement of their sixth runner. Of Harrison’s seven runner, they each placed in the top 11 of the SWOC Meet.

The boys soccer team is enjoying a historic season. They finished the regular season with a 16-0 record, marking the first time in program history the Wildcats have had an undefeated regular season. In the midst of the undefeated run, Harrison were were crowned SWOC champions for the third time in the conference’s historoy, going 6-0 in SWOC play.

The Wildcats remain undefeated (16-0-1) heading into Saturday’s sectional game at Anderson (7:00 PM). They drew Oak Hills 2-2, but survived on PKs to keep their season alive.

Harrison boys soccer is led by Landon Wagner (21 goals, 9 assists), Gaven Johnson (16 goals, 13 assists), Evan Esterkamp (6 goals, 6 assists) and goalkeepers RJ Toepfer and Jimmy Lockwood.

The Harrison girls soccer team wrapped up their season with a record of 13-4-1, winning their first conference title since 2015 with a 4-0 record against conference foes. However, their season came to an end on Monday with a 2-1 loss to Fairfield in sectional play.

Among their top performers this season were Maya Cracchiolo (10 goals, 8 assists), Marin Dierkers (12 goals, 4 assists), and Shelby Piepmeier (9 goals, 5 assists). 

And for the fourth consecutive season, Harrison volleyball won the SWOC title. They now have the most SWOC championships in conference history. Wildcats listed among the conference’s statistical leaders are Faith Young (kills & digs), Lauren Blank (kills), Grace Whitis (blocks), Lauren Leurck (blocks & assists), Elizabeth Heimkreiter (digs, aces, assists, pass points), Carsyn McKain (pass points), and Grace Stewart (pass points).

Harrison defeated Winton Wood 3-0 in the first round of sectional play. Their next match is tonight at 7:00 p.m. against Mason at Lakota West High School.
