Greensburg's Hawkins Win Trojan Trot 5K

The next stop on the SIRC comes Saturday in Aurora for the Knight Flight 5K.

(St. Leon, Ind.) – Three teenagers from southeastern Indiana led the way at the Trojan Trot 5K.

The second of six Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit races was held last Saturday in St. Leon.

Greensburg 15-year-old Joe Hawkins was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 16:36. He was followed by Lucas Cooney, 16, of Sunman, who ran the race in 17:25.

Ben Riehle, 17, of Milan, placed third with a time of 17:42.

The top placing female was Lanie Nicholson. The Versailles native placed 12th overall with a time of 20:06. Kimberly Johnston, 52, of College Corner, and Morgan Barnes, 18, of Hamilton, rounded out the top three in the female division.

Proceeds from the SIRC events support cross country programs at local schools.
