(Greensburg, Ind.) - The Greendale Middle School (GMS) Boys Cross Country team delivered an outstanding performance at the Greensburg Invitational, one of the largest middle school cross country meets in the state, featuring 28 teams from across Indiana.
The GMS Tigers took home an impressive 2nd place finish, falling short of first place by just two points in what Coach Justin Noppert described as an “epic race.”
The varsity squad was led by James Pursell, who finished 2nd overall, with strong contributions from Henry Gilliland, Brenden Wurtzler, Elijah Noppert, Miles Lightner, Jude Noppert, and Lucas Ashcraft.
“I’m impressed by the grit and determination of this team,” said Coach Noppert. “They continue to push themselves and compete with positive attitudes. It’s a joy to coach a group of athletes who give their best every time they step on the course.”
Remarkably, six of the seven varsity boys have already qualified for the State Finalsin Terre Haute on October 4, despite the season being less than halfway complete.
On the girls’ side, Ava Shelton turned in a notable performance, besting her personal record and also qualifying for the State Finals.
The GMS Tigers now turn their focus to the second half of the season, carrying momentum and confidence from their performance at Greensburg.
