Goepper Honored At The Statehouse; Shows Governor His Scar

Olympic silver medalist Nick Goepper, of Lawrenceburg, has been given the Sagamore of the Wabash by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Olympic silver medalist Nick Goepper, of Lawrenceburg, has been given the Sagamore of the Wabash by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb. The award is one of the highest honors a Hoosier can receive.

Fresh off a welcome home party at Perfect North Slopes on Sunday, Goepper went to the Indiana Statehouse on Monday.

Holcomb asked if Goepper, who has been skiing since he was a child, has any scars. Nick described an injury he experienced while maneuvering on a rail at age 14.

“I’m just going to do a Forrest Gump and I’ll just show you the scar,” said as he proceeded to pull his pants down just enough to reveal a scar on his buttock.

“Please tell me you got that,” a laughing Holcomb said to the cameras filming the meeting.

Goepper was also honored Monday in the Indiana House of Representatives and Indiana Senate with a resolution commemorating his silver medal performance at the Winter Olympics in South Korea last month.

Eagle Country 99.3’s Bubba Bo spoke with Nick on Monday. Listen to the interview here.

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team introduced a commercial featuring Nick. It plays off the “Tide ad” Super Bowl commercials. Procter & Gamble is one of Goepper’s main sponsors.
