East Central, Batesville Runners Earn Academic All-State Honors

Four of the eight local honorees made Academic All-State First Team.

INDIANAPOLIS – Eight area high school cross country runners have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom.

The Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches recently announced their 2024 Boys and Girls Cross Country Academic All-State teams.

East Central had six runners recognized.

Emily Klem and Aiden Palmer were Academic All-State First Team selections, while Callie Bentley, Delany Donaworth, Leah Toney, and Bradyn Hatton received Honorable Mention.

Batesville’s Isabel Raab and Shanna Smith both made Academic All-State First Team

To be eligible for recognition, nominees had to meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Head Coach is a current member of the IATCCC (this will be checked) – IATCCC membership is for the calendar year, not the school year.
  2. Juniors and Seniors Only
  3. Varsity Athletes on Sectional (tournament) roster (XC – Top 18 Only)
  4. Minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (please convert all other scales to 4.0)
  5. Seniors – minimum SAT of 1200 (Math & Critical Reading or Evidence-Based Reading & Writing only) OR ACT composite of 26
    Juniors – same as Seniors OR PSAT of 1140 (Math & Evidence Based Reading and Writing)
