(Milan, Ind.) – One of the best swimmers in Milan High School history is looking forward to his next challenge.
Fernando Gomez recently signed his letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Salem International University in West Virginia.
Gomez is one of the most decorated swimmers in Milan High School history, competing at back-to-back IHSAA Boys Swimming & Diving State Finals.
This February, Gomez placed 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke. His time of 57.89 was a new school record in the event.
Gomez should have an opportunity to make an immediate impact for a Salem International swim team that finished 13th out of 14 teams at the 2019 Bluegrass Mountain/Carolinas Conference Championship meet in February.
