Boys and Girls Sectional Pairings Announced

Several individuals are among the state's statistical leaders heading into the postseason

The Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers captured their 4th straight sectional title in 2025.

INDIANAPOLIS - The pairings for the 33rd annual IHSAA Boys and Girls Soccer State Tournaments were drawn on Sunday evening. 

In total, 312 boys teams and 280 girls teams will compete over the next four weeks.  

Both tournaments mirror each other beginning with 16 sectionals in each of three classes running October 5-10. Regional semifinals will be played October 14-15 with regional championships on October 17. 

Semi-state matches will be played on Saturday, October 24. The winners will advance to state championship matches on October 30-31 at Michael Carroll Stadium at IU Indianapolis.

About the Draw

To conduct the random drawing for the state tournament, the IHSAA places ping-pong balls representing each school in each sectional into a lottery-style air mix machine. A motorized fan in the bottom of the machine blows the balls around the inside of the transparent container and air then forces each ball up through a tube in random order. For example, the first ball retrieved from the machine will be the visiting team in game one with the second ball representing the home team in game one. The third ball to come out is the visitor in game two and the fourth ball the home team in game two. That same method is followed through all 48 sectionals to determine every team’s placement in the bracket.
