Batesville's Chapman Wins Trojan Trot 5K

The second SIRC race of the summer took place in St. Leon on Saturday.

(St. Leon, Ind.) – A 15-year-old from Batesville crossed the finish line first at the Trojan Trot 5K.

The second of six races in the Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit took place on Saturday in St. Leon.

Jake Chapman placed first with a time of 17:41. Ayden Potts, 16, of Dillsboro, came in second (17:52) followed by Cole Benegas, 17, of Lawrenceburg (18:06).

Nine of the top 10 finishers were ages 14-18.

The top female finisher was Lanie Nicholson. The 18-year-old from Versailles finished fifth with a time of 19:10.

The third SIRC race, the Knight Flight 5K, will be held Saturday, July 16 in Aurora. Register for the event at Stuart Road Racing LLC.

Proceeds from the SIRC races benefit the host school’s cross country program.
