50th Annual IHSAA Girls Tennis State Tournament Starts This Week

INDIANAPOLIS - The 50th annual IHSAA Girls Tennis State Tournament gets underway this week. 

A total of 310 schools were drawn and placed into brackets for the team tournament. The 64 team sectional winners will advance to regional play May 27-28 at 16 sites. 

The regional champs will advance to semi-state play May 31 at Center Grove, Culver Academies, Homestead, and Jasper. 

The state finals are scheduled for June 6-7 at North Central High School with the quarterfinals, semifinals, and state championship matches all played at a single site for the first time since the eight-team format was adopted in 2010. 

Some area teams were scheduled to play on Tuesday night but inclement weather postponed matches to Wednesday. 

Here is when and where area teams will compete in the State Tournament.

Sectional 19 at Batesville 

  • Oldenburg Academy vs. Batesville - Wednesday, May 21 at 5:30 p.m.
  • South Dearborn vs. Milan - Wednesday, May 21 following the first match
  • East Central will play the winner of Oldenburg and Batesville on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
  • Lawrenceburg awaits the winner of South Dearborn and Milan on Thursday following the first match

Sectional 22 at Connersville

  • Franklin County vs. Rushville - Wednesday, May 21 at 5:00 p.m.
  • The winner will play Connersville or Union County for the sectional title on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
