(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Community members gathered at Newtown Park in Lawrenceburg on the Fourth of July for the unveiling of a replica World War II Honor Roll billboard.

The original billboard stood in Newtown Park from 1942 to 1964 to recognized those from Dearborn County who served during the war.

The project was spearheaded by Jim Fulton, a decorated military veteran, who spent countless hours researching records, locating names, gathering historical information, and working closely with Sign A Rama to bring this historic memorial back to life for future generations.

"I think everyone understands the importance of what this wall means in Dearborn County," said Fulton.

The 2026 Dearborn County memorial lists a remarkable 2,904 names, including 111 wounded in action and 84 killed in action. It exists because of the collaboration of dedicated volunteers, the City of Lawrenceburg, the Dearborn County Historical Society, Signarama, and generous community sponsors.

Honor Roll Legend

  • Names in Black (Veteran)
  • Names in Red (Killed in Action)
  • Names in Purple (Purple Heart)

Names may still be added to the wall. If you know of anyone who should be on the list, email the information to gifulton1940@gmail.com

The Honor Roll will be on display at Newtown Park through the month of Jully. It will then have a permanent home in the Lawrenceburg Community Center
