Whiskey City Challenge, Pickin 'N Sippin Events Happen Saturday

Information about the events and required street closures.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Mark your calendars on Saturday, July 19 for the Whiskey City Challenge and "Pickin 'N Sippin" events in downtown Lawrenceburg. 

The Whiskey City Challenge features 11 high speed professional cycling races with the first starting at 1:00 p.m. 

The full schedule is as follows: 

  • 1:00 PM - Men's 60+ (40 minutes)
  • 1:50 PM - Junior U15 Boys and Girls (25 minutes)
  • 2:25 PM - Junior 15-18 Boys (25 minutes)
  • 2:26 PM - Junior 15-18 Girls (25 minutes)
  • 3:00 PM - Men's 40+ 4/Novice (40 minutes)
  • 3:55 PM - Men's 4/Novice (30 minutes)
  • 4:40 PM - Women's 3/4/Novice (30 minutes
  • 5:20 PM - Celebrity Tri-Cycle Races
  • 5:45 PM - Men's Masters 40+/50+ (40 minutes)
  • 6:40 PM - Men's 3/4 (50 minutes)
  • 7:45 PM - Women's Pro Open (50 minutes)
  • 9:00 PM - Men's Pro 1/2/3 (60 laps)

Last race winners are expected to cross the finish line around 10:30 p.m.

This year's event will include the brand new "Pickin 'N Sippin" event which will feature music all day and night starting at noon on Walnut Street. Featured artists include: The Watson Twins, Tony Holt & The Wildwood Valley Boys, Maria Carrelli Band, Chicago Farmer, Bibelhauser Brothers, Whiskey Bent Valley Boys, Cornfields & Crossroads, Johnny Estep Band, and Andrew Hibbard. 

Whiskey tastings at the Liberty Theater will take place fro 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Due to the events, the following streets and alleys will be closed: 

  • Center Street between Vine and Elm
  • Elm between Center and High
  • High between Elm and Vine
  • Vine between High and Center
  • Walnut at Tate Street to High Street
  • Short and Elm at Tate

Free parking will be available in the Ivy Tech parking garage and off-street parking lots.

Access to local residential and business properties will be available via intersections of William and Elm and William and Vine.
