Dewayne Isbel
Hamilton County Sheriff's Office
(Aurora, Ind.) – Two men who stole more than $1,600 in merchandise from the Walmart store in Aurora have been sentenced.
Last month, Dwayne Isbel and Michael Hedger, both of Cincinnati, each reached plea agreements with Dearborn County prosecutors, pleading guilty to single charges of Theft (Class D felony).
The judge in Dearborn Superior Court I sentenced Isbel and Hedger to three years. They’ll each do 9 months in prison, and the rest of that time on probation. Isbel was given credit for 10 days already served in jail and Hedger credited 48 days.
They must also make joint restitution of $1,627 to Walmart.
At the time of the charges being filed, Aurora Police said the men took a big screen TV, a vacuum, and a computer from Walmart last October. They spent 12 minutes in the store before leaving through a fire exit and loaded their stolen items into an SUV and got away.
They were caught after store employees recognized the men on a return trip to the same store six days later.
A third man who was allegedly driving the getaway vehicle, Robert Hulett, was charged with Aiding, Inducing, or Causing Theft (Class D felony). It is unknown if his court case has been resolved.
