Vietnam Veterans Celebration, Fish Fry Takes Place Thursday in Aurora

A free gift of gratitude will be given to Indiana residents who served in the military during the Vietnam War Era.

(Aurora, Ind.) – The Southeastern Indiana Vietnam Veterans of American, Lary D. Fogle Chapter 71 will host a fish fry this week in Aurora.

The event will take place Thursday, March 31 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 119 Bridgeway Street.

Indiana residents who served in the military during the Vietnam War Era from 1955-75 will be presented with a free gift. The gift includes a hard bound book with a DVD and a hat pin.

Jill Fewell and her crew will be coming from Indianapolis to present the gifts to veterans. She works closely with Indiana’s only living recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, SFC Sammy Davis.

Sammy is scheduled to come to Aurora in May to give the dedication speech for the Huey Helicopter display at Lesko Park.

The VVA Chapter 71 will hold their regular monthly meeting on Thursday following the fish fry.

Life membership is $25 with no annual dues. Those who served in Vietnam at any time from February 28, 1961, to May 7, 1975, or any duty station in the world from August 8, 1964 to May 7, 1975 are eligible to join.
