Vevay Woman Dies In I-74 Crash

The single-vehicle crash occurred Saturday morning.

(Shelby County, Ind.) - A Vevay woman died in a crash on Interstate 74 over the weekend.

A 2008 Toyota driven by Samantha Boyer wrecked on I-74 Westbound near Shelbyville on Saturday morning, according to Indiana State Police. The vehicle rolled several times after leaving the roadway.

The 28-year-old Boyer had been ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say Boyer was not wearing a seatbelt.

A man in the vehicle with her was extricated from the wreckage and rushed to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition. His name was not released.

“At this time troopers do not know what caused the vehicle to run off the road, alcohol is not suspected however standard procedure with all fatal crashes requires a blood test for impairment, those results are pending,” said Sgt. John Perrine in a news release.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
