Update posted at 5:35 p.m.:

Richard Main, the Rising Sun man accused of leading a police chase through town and into Ohio, has three outstanding felony warrants in Indiana, say Lawrenceburg Police.

Chief Gene Hunefeld said Main also has several warants in Ohio, adding Thursday's incident is not the first time Main has fled police.

Once Main's minivan stopped on I-275 in Hamilton County and he was taken into custody, property found inside the van was believed to be stolen from a location in Ohio County.

A passenger in Main's van during the chase, Christine Pitzer, was later arrested for Receiving Stolen Property. Pitzer is currently held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.

A Rising Sun man is in jail after he allegedly led police on a wild chase Thursday morning.

Lawrenceburg Police responded to a report of a reckless driver on U.S. 50 at about 7:30 a.m. When officers tried to stop the minivan, the driver – now identified as Richard Main, 26, of Rising Sun – sped off.

Main led officers eastbound on U.S. 50 through downtown Lawrenceburg at the busiest time of the morning commute, at times going off the highway onto downtown streets.

“It was a miracle there wasn't an accident there,” said Kim Ingles, who witnessed the chase through downtown.

Another motorist told Eagle 99.3 she was driving on U.S. 50 near Lawrenceburg High School when the fleeing vehicle swerved and struck the side-view mirror on her Jeep.

During the chase, Main’s vehicle wrecked into a police vehicle in pursuit.

Main continued to flee, merging onto Interstate 275 at the Greendale ramp. He drove to Ohio where he continued east on I-74 to the 10 mile marked when he made a U-turn through the median and headed westbound.

The van then encountered tire trouble near the ramp to Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway. His vehicle stopped and he was taken into custody there.

The chase lasted about 20 minutes.

Main is held in Hamilton County on a felony charge of Fleeing and Eluding. He is also likely to face charges in Dearborn County for the chase.

Police say Main is suspected in multiple scrap metal thefts around Indiana.
