Update posted at 1:39 p.m.:
Dillsboro Fire Chief Tim Heitmeyer said nobody was injured in Tuesday morning's fire at the old Lake Dilldear Motel.
While the motel has been closed for business, a person was living there at the time, Heitmeyer said.
The resident was using a wood stove to keep the living space warm. There was an issue with the stove's smoke pipe which led to a fire starting in the attic.
Close to 20 firefighters from Dillsboro and Aurora responded to the scene and had the fire extinguished in about an hour, Heitmeyer said.
