UPDATE: I-75 Opens After 30 Vehicle Pileup

Good news for motorists stuck in a traffic jam caused by an earlier 30 car pileup on Interstate 75 in Grant County.

 

Kentucky State Police say one lane of the southbound side of the interstate at the 156 mile marker has reopened at about 2:20 p.m. according to WLWT-TV. Both southbound lanes had been closed due to the pileup which occured nearly four hours earlier.

 

Troopers confirmed there were no fatalities in the pileup. 

 

The other southbound lane is expected to be closed for at least a few more hours. Northbound traffic was not closed.

(Grant County, Ky.) – Motorists on Interstate 75 in Grant County are being directed to a detour following a crash involving up to 30 vehicles.

 

The pile occurred at about 11:15 Monday morning in the southbound lanes near Dry Ridge and Crittenden, forcing the interstate to shut down at mile marker 156.

 

Kentucky State Police say the interstate is not expected to reopen until at least 4:00 p.m.

 

WCPO-TV reported several people were injured in the accident, but the extent of those injuries is not known.
