(Osgood, Ind.) – A local amateur mixed martial artist has added yet another accolade to his trophy case. On Wednesday, Tyler Shipp was named the 2017 Bluegrass MMA Amateur Fighter of the Year. Shipp won the award with more than 32 percent of the vote. It should come as no surprise that Shipp won the award. In 2017, the Jac-Cen-Del High School graduate won three Hardrock MMA titles in three different weight classes. His most recent win came on December 9 at Hardrock MMA 95 in Covington, where Shipp won the middleweight title in just two-minutes and 30-seconds. Shipp has won all six of his fights via TKO, with five of his wins coming in the first round. At just 20-years-old, Shipp is the first person in Kentucky state history to hold the heavyweight, light heavyweight and middleweight titles at the same time. Bluegrass MMA also ranks Shipp as the top men’s amateur fighter in each of the three weight classes.
