(Harrison, Oh.) - Harrison Police say two teens who pulled off a not-at-all-funny hoax have been criminally charged.
Many in the Harrison area were on edge after an 11-year-old boy reported that two men in a car tried to lure him into their vehicle on January 10. The incident, believed for some time to be an attempted abduction, happened on Campbell Road as the child had been dropped off by his school bus and was walking home.
The teen boys who allegedly perpetrated the fake abduction attempt filmed it and posted it to social media. The poor taste video was obtained and published online by Harrison Happenings on Facebook. Watch it below.
Harrison Police investigated and reported earlier this week that the incident was determined to be a bad hoax.
On Thursday, those two teenage boys turned themselves into Harrison Police. They were accompanied by their parents.
The two teens, who do not attend Harrison High School, are each charged with one count of misdemeanor Inducing Panic.
