(Aurora, Ind.) – Two people were injured in an accident that shut down State Road 48 in Dearborn County on Friday evening.
Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident on Friday evening near the 8200 block of State Road 48.
Deputies say a semi, driven by Rod Kasiah, 40, of Scottsburg, was traveling eastbound when the empty trailer slid into the westbound lane and collided with a westbound vehicle.
Lawrence Schuh, 75, of Aurora, and Mary Whipple, 71, of East Alexandria, were trapped inside their vehicle as result of the impact.
Schuh was able to be removed from the vehicle prior to responders arriving at the scene. Whipple was extracted by Manchester Fire and Rescue.
Both were transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.
Indiana State Police, Manchester Fire and EMS, Aurora EMS and Lawrenceburg EMS assisted at the scene.
