Two Fatal Wrecks In As Many Nights In Boone Co.

Deadly wrecks occurred Saturday and Sunday evenings in Boone County.

(Boone County, Ky.) - It was a deadly weekend on roads in Boone County.

Sheriff's deputies say a Jeep Cherokee ran off Burlington Pike-KY 18 at around 9:30 Sunday night, hit an embankment and rolled over near Botts Lane.

The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name has not been released by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the crash.

On Saturday night, a motorcyclist was killed in a wreck on Turfway Road in Florence. George T. Russ, 37, was severely injured as he wrecked while trying to avoid a collision with a pickup truck at Sebree Drive.

“The operator of the pickup truck was in the process of making a left turn from Turfway Road onto Sebree Drive as the motorcycle was approaching the intersection.  The operator of the motorcycle appears to have lost control of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to fall to the roadway before reaching the pickup truck,” Florence Police Capt. Greg Rehkamp said.

Russ was pronounced dead after arriving at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
