(Erlanger, Ky.) – Not one, but two Erlanger police cruisers were damaged by impaired drivers over the weekend.

Both cruisers were damaged during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 on Sunday around 3:48 a.m.

One of the cruisers was transporting two subjects off the highway due to neither of them being licensed to operate the stopped vehicle. A vehicle traveling northbound then struck the rear of the cruiser.

The passengers of the cruiser reported injuries and were treated at the scene but refused to be transported to an area hospital. The officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at a local medical facility.

As police continued to work the scene of the initial collision, another vehicle operated by Hugo Aguilon failed to stop for congested traffic and struck a vehicle that was pushed into the rear of another Erlanger Police vehicle.

Aguilon was arrested for No Operators-Moped License, Failure to Produce Insurance Card, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence .08 (Aggravating Circumstances) 1st Off., Wanton Endangerment (2nd Degree) and Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in a Motor Vehicle.
