(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - In celebration of 812 Day, the Pi Chapter of Tri Kappa in Lawrenceburg has made an $812 donation to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Dearborn County.

Celebrated each year on August 12—the 12th day of the 8th month—812 Day is a grassroots celebration of the communities within Southern Indiana’s 812 area code. The day encourages residents, businesses, and organizations to celebrate what is good about their communities through acts of kindness, volunteerism, supporting local businesses, and giving back to local causes.

For the women of Tri Kappa Pi Chapter, that made 812 Day a fitting opportunity to invest in an organization serving some of Dearborn County’s youngest residents.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library shares that commitment to education and community. The book-gifting program mails a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book each month to enrolled children from birth until their fifth birthday, regardless of family income. The program is designed to inspire a love of reading, strengthen early literacy, and help families build home libraries from a child’s earliest years.

Locally, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Dearborn County currently provides books to over 1,400 young children throughout the county, relying on community partnerships and charitable support to help fund the books delivered to local families.

“There is something especially meaningful about celebrating 812 Day by seeing one local organization invest in another,” said Laura Priebe, director of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Dearborn County. “Tri Kappa has a long history of investing in education, families, and organizations that make our community stronger. Their gift puts books directly into the hands of Dearborn County children—and it reminds us that some of the best things happening in our community happen because neighbors choose to invest in neighbors.”

The donation will help sustain the Imagination Library’s growing reach in Dearborn County and continue providing books at no cost to local families.

“812 Day gives us a chance to notice—and support—the good work already happening all around us,” Sherry Nelson, president of Tri Kappa added. “We are incredibly proud to be part of that celebration by lifting up one another.”
