(Kenton County, Ky.) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of various traffic impacts in Kenton County for a patching project beginning Saturday, October 25.
This work will involve in-place patching to create a smoother, safer surface for all road users.
Crews will be working from 4 a.m. to noon on Interstate 71/75 southbound at the overpass for East Orchard Road (KY 2967). This work will include the following traffic impacts:
- Right three lanes blocked from Kyles Lane (KY 1072) (188.8 mile point) to west of Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) (187.6 mile point), a distance of 1.2 miles. Traffic will be reduced to a single left lane.
- The on-ramp from Kyles Lane to I-71/75 southbound will be closed.
- The off-ramp from I-71/75 southbound to Dixie Highway will be closed.
Motorists should note the lane and ramp closures and find an alternate route. If coming from Ohio, consider taking I-471 southbound to I-275 westbound to avoid delays.
Once this work is completed, crews will shift to northbound Dixie Highway north of Beechwood Road from noon until 4 p.m. This work will include the following traffic impacts:
- Single right lane closure on Dixie Highway northbound from Greenbriar Avenue (9.1 mile point) to Highland Cemetery (9.6 mile point), a distance of 0.5 miles.
The in-place patching contract will also improve road conditions on the following roads:
- Taylor Mill Road (KY 16)
- Sleepy Hollow Road (KY 1072)
- Hands Pike (KY 1501)
- Richardson Road (KY 1829)
Riegler Blacktop, Inc. is contracted to perform the in-place patching project on behalf of KYTC. Weather permitting, this project is expected to be completed late November 2025.
