(Dearborn County, Ind.) - A town meeting will be held on Wednesday regarding the development of a large-scale solar energy system in Dearborn County.
Stop Commercial Solar Dearborn County will host the event at Manchester Township Firehouse starting at 6 PM.
Linea Energy is reportedly pursuing over 800 acres to develop into solar and battery storage. Stop Commercial Solar Dearborn County opposes the idea.
To date, an online petition to stop the commercial-scale energy system has received over 1,500 signatures
According to the petition website, residents, landowners and stakeholders are concerned about the permanent or long-term loss of productive agricultural land, adverse impacts to rural character and scenic landscapes, potential reduction in neighboring property values, environmental and drainage issues, increased strain on roads and emergency services, and limited long-term economic benefit to Dearborn County residents.
